JAOO naming contest

By Therese Hansen | February 2, 2009

As some of you may remember, last month we decided that we needed a new name for our beloved JAOO conferences. We asked for your help with an appropriate name that did not remind people of Java.  JAOO is so much more than that: it is about best practices, bringing experiences and lessons learned to an audience, new technologies, trends in programming languages, architectures, methods, and a lot more.

The number of emails we received was overwhelming and we are very grateful for your input and proposals. More than 250 names were proposed – and a lot of them was very creative (and some very humorous).

So what is the new name? The short answer is: We’re not able to say just yet!

When we promised you an answer by end of January we did not realize how difficult this process would be.   As we stand, we still have negotiations that need to come to an end, and so we have to ask you to please bear with us for a while longer.

We hope you understand.

/The JAOO team.

I didn’t participate in your contest but I’m more than interested in detailed statistics. How many of these 250 repeated, how many contained JAOO in name?

Can you provide that in next post please?

Have the dates of the 2009 edition of the conference-formerly-known-as-JAOO been published yet?
