JAOO is all about free stuff – Comment and win
By admin | September 28, 2008
Free stuff is good stuff. No exceptions. At JAOO, you can get your free stuff at exhibitors, but you can also participate in the JAOO Today comments competition. Each day, the JAOO Today Team will select the best comments in the following categories:
- Funniest
- Most controversial
- Most insightful
- Best flamebait
There’s no need to nominate your comments, because you can’t. The JAOO Today Team do the selections and contact you if you have won using the email address you’ve used for commenting. The winners will also be published on today.jaoo.dk.
Of course, a contest without prizes is not quite a contest, so there will be prizes for the winners. The prizes are:
- 10 ReSharper licenses
- 5 IntelliJ IDEA licenses
- 5 copies of Clean Code by Uncle Bob
- 1 ticket to JAOO 2009 (for the ultimate winner of winners)

Throwing ethics out the window – I’m willing to comment and say that this is the best post on this blog – now do I win a prize?

I really doubt commenting here would make your comment fall under any of the above mentioned categories.

A long discussion on the beautiful (yep, that´s really the best word) presentation ´Designed as designer´ gave the following somewhat disappointing results:
* ´Designed as designer´, or by substitution ´Work of art as designer´ is the wrong title. It is true that great works of art (including software projects) write themselves after the first draft, but the real topic of the presentation was that all works of art are produced by groups of people, not single individuals.
* However, since we already operate in the group modus, our lives are not changed at all.

Dear Mr. Meijer,
I feel so dirty. Do you think a book of Clean Code might help?

Erik,
I still see a lot of companies forgetting about teamwork. Yes, they have teams, but they still leave the design to one person and forget that you need extensive reviews with all parties to get a good design. Meaning that they end up with at most a mediocre design.
